Control Surface is presented as a unified formal document rather than a collection of pieces. The recording is conceived as an ensemble system in which material, spacing, and pressure are continuously weighed against one another. Decisions unfold through proportion and containment, with each gesture shaped by its relationship to the whole rather than by display. The music advances through controlled accumulation and release, maintaining a disciplined surface while allowing deeper structural tensions to remain active beneath it.
This work is a conceptual ensemble recording created through human artistic direction and artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence functions strictly as an analytical and generative instrument, used to examine pattern, proportion, ensemble behavior, and long form balance. It operates in service of historical awareness and aesthetic judgment, subordinate to human intent and editorial control. The result is an archival object that treats process as structure, and structure as the primary expressive field.
